Hey this is great! Glad to see more hyperlocal focus, and right in our backyard too! New West and Burnaby community activities often cross over – maybe we can plan a collaboration or a Tweetup mixer sometime.
By the way, we also run an events calendar on our blog, and I often include Burnaby events, because you’re so close by. If you use Google Calendar or iCal, you can simply copy over events from my calendar to yours (and vice versa).
Thanks very much. That sounds great. I hope to have mostly videos of current events etc., but I will keep it in mind for sure. I like your site. I’ll be sure to check in from time to time
This is great – I am super excited to have a local blog!! What a great idea. I live/work in the Heights.
Hey – do you happen to know if Helen’s sign is ever coming back?! I thought Cioffe’s was going to put it back up but I am thinking it’s gone forever!! That would be a great story for a Burnaby Blog!!
Look forward to your posts.
Thanks Julie. I’m still in the process of building the site etc., but thanks for your suggestion. Any time you have an interesting story or upcoming event in Burnaby, I’d be happy to hear about it.
Julie, I’m also a Real Estate Agent in Burnaby, so your business interests me very much as well. I’ll be sure to check out your site. My Real Estate Blog is http://wesleybehan.com
Cheers.
One thing we do that you might consider is inviting guest posts from the community. That helps diversify the voice on the site and allows you to cover far more than you could alone. For example, we’d be happy to write a guest post that we would cross-post on our site about the relationship New Westminster has with Burnaby. We are sometimes jealous, sometimes snooty but definitely interdependent! I find it really interesting to compare and contrast the two cities and the very different paths we have taken in terms of development and culture.
I am considering hiring a few local writers for the blog, but I don’t think it will get too far beyond that. If you’d like to contribute something, I encourage you too:) Thanks for the comments.
Good on you I think this is a new and developing trend, local news feeds is what we need.
We also like to support our local community and we do allot of work in the Burnaby area thanks for putting this site up. all the best in your venture Mark
Thanks for your comments and your support. Cheers.
